  10.        prevalence of HIV among refugees from Sub-Saharan Africa AIM: To prevent
  11.        HIV transmission. METHOD: Culturally appropriate approach to target
  12.        group. LESSONS LEARNED: By providing facts in a non-judgmental format,
  13.        we have reduced some fears and myths about HIV/AIDS. Our target group
  14.        was able to personalize AIDS issues. Individual fears and anger were
  15.        turned into positive action for a fight against the epidemic. Diverse
  16.        socio-economical issues had to be dealt with before sex/sexuality and
  17.        STD prevention communication could begin. PWAs are an invaluable
  18.        resource in AIDS work. Continuous and consistent interaction between the
  19.        target group and our organisation is crucial for successful and
  20.        sustainable information and education programme.
